The residential area of Renfrew Collingwood developed around the inter-urban electric railway that connected New Westminster with Vancouver. The Collingwood East Tram Station at Joyce Street and Vanness Avenue were the site of the first stores and houses. Today the SkyTrain route runs along the old inter-urban route and gave rise to more development of apartments near the station stops.
The boundary of the Renfrew-Collingwood area stretches along Vancouver’s east boundary with Burnaby. As well as lots of shopping, restaurants and services along Kingsway there is Renfrew Ravine Park to get away from it all.
The residents of the Renfrew-Collingwood neighbourhood have easy access to Renfrew Ravine Park as well as many restaurants, shopping and services mainly through the Collingwood part of Kingsway Street. This part of Vancouver connects with SkyTrain which was constructed in 1986.
