From 1888 to 1912 several breweries were operating in the Mount Pleasant area, and it was first known as Brewery Creek. Working class families moved in as this area became industrialized with Main and Kingsway Streets linking Mount Pleasant and Vancouver.
The Mount Pleasant West neighbourhood runs from 6th Avenue to 16th Avenue and Ontario Street to Cambie Street with many young families and professionals and first-time homeowners calling Mount Pleasant home. This neighbourhood is linked to downtown Vancouver and right to Vancouver International Airport by the Canada Line, an extension of SkyTrain. Within Mount Pleasant West is the historic Vancouver City Hall, small shopping centres, restaurants and grocery stores. Along the Cambie Corridor, you will find the City Square and grocery stores such as Safeway, Whole Foods, Capers, and Choices. Broadway Street houses Mountain Equipment Co-op and the Cactus Club. There is quick access to downtown Vancouver, the Vancouver International Airport and beaches with public buses and Skytrain with the Canada Line and the Cambie and Broadway Station.
